BADIN/ KARACHI: Two planted bombs went off approximately 20 minutes apart near a Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) election office killing at least three people and injuring 40 others on Saturday evening
According to initial reports, both the blasts occurred near Moor ground, where MQM frequently hold public gatherings.
According to unconfirmed reports, a powerful blast has occurred near MQM polling office adjacent to Mor Park in Block-8 of Azizabad area in the metropolis.
The blast was so loud and powerful and it was heard in faraway places including Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Safoora Goth and others.
The police and rescue teams have rushed to the blast side and started moving the injured to Abbassi Shahed Hospital.
This is fifth blast in a row near MQM offices in Karachi
Police and rescue teams have reached to the site and shifted injured people to Abbasi Shaheed hospital.
The bomb disposal squad reached the area after the blast while police and rangers cordoned off the area
MQM leader Wasay Jalil calls the blast a failing of the caretaker set up. “They have failed and they should own up to it that they have failed and charge should be given to some body else.”
Despite the loss of two of their workers, Jalil insisted that the MQM will continue with its campaigns and participate in the elections.
“On May 11 we will follow the due procees and follow the democratic way… MQM will keep conducting its activities.”
The death toll has jumped to three dead, including two MQM workers. As many as 33 people have been injured in the twin blasts.
