Three terrorists killed in shootout near DI Khan

RAWALPINDI: Security Forces on Sunday gunned down three suspected terrorists in retaliatory firing near Dera Ismail Khan (D.I Khan), Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

According to Pak Army’ media wing, security forces were carrying out an Intelligence-Based Operation (IBO) in Gara Madda area near D.I Khan when ‘suspected terrorists’ on motorcycles opened firing a personnel after they signaled them to stop. The security forces retaliated and killed three attackers in the encounter, the statement added.

The slain terrorists have been identified as Iqbal, Majid, and Waheed.

The statement further said that Iqbal was wanted in many cases and carried a head money worth Rs1 million. The Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.

In July, security forces foiled a terror bid when two suicide bombers tried to storm Frontier Constabulary (FC)’s camp in Khyber Agency’s Jarobi area on Pak-Afghan border.

One of the attackers blew himself at entrance of the camp after getting failed to storm it while another was shot dead. Two FC personnel had also sustained injuries in the gun battle.
