Mardan university student accused of blasphemy beaten to death on campus

  • This time it is Mishal Khan A journalism student was shot dead and by a large vigilante mob comprising fellow students at the Abdul Wali Khan University (AWKU) in Pakistan’s Mardan town, tomorrow it could be a student of Karachi University, then Punjab University and then maybe a student from one of the students in Balochistan.

  • No leader of Pakistan has ever cared to ask our Pakistani youths abroad, “why have you left Pakistan?”. Almost every famous personalities in Pakistan (Imran Khan, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Nawaz Sharif, Pervez Musharraf, etc) know the reason behind our youths wanting to leave the country. The young generation are willing to give any amount of money to an agent of their choice and prays to God….basically anything to get a visa.

  • As published by Sheharyar Ali of The Express Tribune in 2016, Ammad Zafar of Karachi University public administration department has said that around 48.7% of youths in Karachi are wanting to leave the country. Mishal Khan’s story is not just murder but it represents the negativity in Pakistan which has became part of our culture. The name Pakistan literally means “The Land of the Pure” which has become a joke now. Anyone educated is told to be witin the red circle…if anyone tries to step out of it, they are threatened to be killed. Take Malala Yousufzai for example. Nobody has the right to live if they question the law or speaks out for others. The simplest way to silence a person is by death.

  • Like every Pakistani, I too request the State to take action to best of their ability to stop these crimes. The State itself knows that Mishal Khan is not the last one of us. Just like Mishal, blaphemy will take the lives of many others. You could be next or who knows….maybe some day it will be me.
