KARACHI: At least Nine people were injured in a large blast near Karachi’s busy Burns Road area on Thursday night

Nine injured in MQM Burns Road Office blast in Karachi

More than 60 people have already been killed in militant attacks targeting electoral campaigning of PPP, MQM and ANP, across the country since April 11.

According to initial  reports, a powerful blast has occurred near MQM’s main polling office of NA-250 on Burns Road.

Initially Nine  persons were reported injured in the blast but the tally mounted to nine after two more persons were found injured. It is feared that the number will mount further after confirmation.

The police and rescue teams rushed to the blast site and started moving the injured to Civil Hospital after cordoning off the area.

Nine injured were moved to Civil Hospital initially but two more victims arrived later there, where three injured are in very serious condition, informed hospital sources.

Burns Road is also called Food Street of Karachi and it used to be occupied by the hundreds of food lovers during these hours of the night.

Owing to the overwhelmed rush of people in the area, it is expected that the tally of injured blast victims would mount further.

The bomb disposal squad also rushed to the side and started probe into the blast. After initial investigation, the bomb disposal squad declared that same types of explosives and ball bearings have been used in this blast.

The blast has damaged a wall of the nearby mosque, Bab-ul-Islam Mosque, and police have said that this blast took place in the mausoleum place of that mosque.
